Spartan Super 2015

I am a Spartan. AROO!!
Yep, that feels cool to say. Honestly, it was the hardest thing I have ever done! I am so glad that I did it though. I really have myself to blame for it being so hard. I did not properly train AT ALL. I signed up for this race months and months ago and I should have disciplined myself way more. In my defense the couple months before my race I was sick, out of town, and sick some more so that really put a damper on my training attempts. But still, if you knew how much I actually did "train", you would be surprised that I made it out of that race alive. If you don't know what the Spartan Race is, you should look it up!
This race was 9 miles long, had 26 obstacles, and was in 100 degree heat. We started at 12:45 PM, and boy I wish we started earlier. It was a scorcher. But we all survived!!

The race started out surprisingly so tough! The first obstacle was a few small walls to climb over to make you think that this race will be easier than you thought. Then you make your way to a couple mud pits to remind you that its going to be dirty. Then you make your way STRAIGHT UP the mountain for 2 miles. Talk about weeding out the weak. My calves were screaming! This was the part to remind you that you are freaking crazy for doing this race and you should probably quit. It was during this time that I lost my group! A couple behind me and the rest in front of me. It was a single file line up that mountain and there was no catching my group! :(  Let me tell you, I was so sad! By the time I was back down the mountain for some more obstacles I wasn't sure what to do. The Spartan Race is very much done best with a team. I was all alone. I decided to maybe wait and see if I could finish with the couple people behind me. During this time I found out that my heels were bleeding. I had blisters that were being rubbed raw by my ankle tape. It was absolutely MISERABLE. I decided to unwrap one of my ankles because it was doing the worst. But, the show went on. Sadly, I wasted about 20-30 minutes waiting for the others (which they never were found) and taking my shoes off. So I decided I had to push forward by myself. Let me tell you, it was hard to motivate myself through that thing. But heaven knows I would hate myself if I quit! So I went on and got brave and asked people for help when I needed it. It was nice to see Brandon's smiling face at a couple of the obstacles that he could get to. He helped motivate me to keep pushing! It really was such a fun and crazy experience. And I am surprised to say that I would do it again! Next time, Brandon is going to be with me, and we will be going to the gym for sure. Oh and I will need a new pair of disposable shoes. The ones I wore went straight into the garbage!

Until next time, Spartans!
