Valentines day.... what a cliche day to be absolutely positive to show your loved ones that you love them. I am not against Valentines day whatsoever (maybe only when I had to be single during the holiday), I think it is an awesome day to make your significant other feel extra special. And yes, I really do think that you should definitely show the love to your S.O. every other day of the year, but I am totally okay with the extra love in the air on this holiday. When Brandon and I were dating and had our first Valentine's Day together, I was a little bitter that it was his birthday and I had to make the day all about him. I mean come on, that is just not fair! I am the girl and I should be getting the attention! -Heavy doses of sarcasm there. Although, I was pretty selfish and I was kinda bummed that I wasn't going to "be spoiled" on Valentines Day like all the other girlfriends. But seriously, how naive was I? I am so glad that Brandon was born on Valentines Day. When I really got into the V-DAY/B-DAY spirit the next year, my attitude totally changed. I absolutely love the happiness that I receive by serving my husband double time on this fun holiday! We really kind of go all out on this day and he gets pretty spoiled. But I totally feel the love myself. I get so much joy out of making my husband so happy! I think the first V-day/B-day was my favorite memory. I surprised Brandon with a Ruger LC9. You guys, this was back when there were waiting lists five pages long for this gun. Brandon himself was probably on every waiting list that was available in Utah. Well being me, I was determined to make it happen behind his back. I called a few places and they mostly just told me there was no way I would have one by Valentines Day. Well, I talked to the sweetest older gentleman at Cabelas and I told him that I was desperate to make my husband's birthday special. I told him that I really needed to get it before Valentine's Day so I could surprise him! (You guys, this was like a week and a half before Valentine's day) Well the old man felt my pain and he said "You know what, don't tell anyone but I am going to put your name at the top of our waiting list. We have a shipment coming in, in a couple days and I will put your name on one of them." What a savior he was! You should have seen the looks on all the men's faces when I went to pick up the gun from the counter. They all swarmed like bee's and demanded to have one. The man told them that they would have to wait their turn because I was on the waiting list. Gosh it was a great moment, I totally felt like a winner. Anyways, I spoiled Brandon all day on his birthday so he would never suspect a thing. He got lots of gifts and we went out to eat and had an awesome day. Right before we went to bed I said, "oh I forgot to give you one of your presents." Well he opened the gift, which was a gun safe, with the gun inside, and he was giving me that pretend smile like"...oh thanks". He really just thought I bought him a safe for his future gun purchase. I insisted he open the safe. He pulled out some bullets and other things that came with the safe and he finally found the gun. No joke, his eyes filled with tears. The look on his face was priceless! He was SO HAPPY! And he will be really upset that I told everyone that he almost cried. He might even deny it. But in that moment my heart was going to burst! I have never felt so much happiness by making someone else so beyond happy. And at that moment, I declared his birthday to be one of my most favorite holidays. Now, it's difficult to top that Valentine's day, but I will always try to bring those same feelings of love and happiness to him on his birthday. I don't even need a Valentine's day, and I really don't even expect one (except maybe a cute love card would be nice.. hint hint).
This year I had a bunch of things planned but the delivery of our couches put a wrench in things. RC Willey's dropped the ball big time and we spent most of the day at the house waiting around for our couches to come. But we still made the best of it, and I still had an amazing day with my guy. And yes he was still spoiled. I finally caved and let him buy some rims for his other love. (He loves his car even more now, now that it has some shiny black boots). I made a yummy (supposed to be yummy, the syrup was a pinterest fail, it looked cute though!) heart shaped breakfast. I ditched my plans of grilling fish for dinner (I HATE fish so that was a big surprise to him) and we decided to just go hang out at Buffalo Wild Wings and watch some games together. He really loves to have a million TV's going on at the same time, it fits his A.D.D. so well. But I love him for it! And I do love me some yummy, sticky, wings! He charmed the pants off of our waitress and to be honest it makes my heart melt. He sure is a ladies man and he doesn't even try. (The waitress also couldn't believe I was making him pay on his birthday, I told her that we were married and that what's mine is his. I think she was embarrassed by her remark! haha but really it was just funny) I am so lucky to call him mine! Then we finished off the night by watching a late night movie at the theater. We love to go to the movie's together, and it doesn't happen often, so I am glad we finally got to go! It was a glorious day, and I am always happy, to make him happy.
| I kind of ruined the cuteness with the whipped cream all over the top, but oh well! |
But really you guys, I totally scored with my hunk of a husband. And I am definitely going to be mushy gushy about it because he really is a catch. Of course he still makes me want to kill him sometimes, but it's totally fair because I know I do the same to him on most days. I am crazy in love with him and he deserves a shout out for it. I can't wait for all the future V-DAY/B-DAY's that I get to spend with my one and only.
Happy Love Day Y'all!
